The Learnbird Zoom Integration connects an educator's Zoom account with their dedicated Learnbird LMS workspace. It enables tutors, instructors, and educational institutions to effortlessly schedule, host, and conduct live interactive video classes directly within their academy environment with zero per-minute streaming fees.
Automated Meeting Scheduling
Create live classes in Learnbird and automatically generate secure Zoom meeting IDs, passcodes, and join links without leaving your instructor dashboard.
Embedded In-Browser & SDK Join
Students can join live meetings directly inside the browser using the embedded Zoom Meeting Web SDK or launch through the native Zoom client.
Access Control & Anti-Zoombombing
Meeting credentials and join signatures are strictly restricted to authenticated students enrolled in the active batch, preventing unauthorized access.
Full Host Capabilities
Instructors maintain full host control (mute/unmute, screen share, breakout rooms, cloud recordings) powered directly by their own Zoom license.
Prerequisites & Requirements
To use the Learnbird Zoom Integration, please ensure your system and account meet the following criteria:
- For Instructors & Host Accounts:
An active Learnbird Instructor or Administrator account (must be 16 years of age or older) and a valid Zoom Account (Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise recommended for hosting live sessions).
- For Students & Learners:
An active student account enrolled in the target academy batch. A paid Zoom account is not required for students to join live classes.
- Browser & System Compatibility:
Modern web browser (latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) with WebRTC and WebGL support. Desktop or mobile devices capable of running the Zoom Web SDK or native app.
App Installation & Authorization Process
Follow these step-by-step instructions to connect your Zoom account to your Learnbird workspace:
- 1Log in to Learnbird: Navigate to your workspace portal (e.g.
youracademy.learnbird.lk) and log in with your Instructor or Admin credentials. - 2Navigate to App Management: From your workspace dashboard, click Settings > Integrations (or Link Zoom Account).
- 3Initiate Zoom OAuth Connection: Click the "Connect Zoom Account" button. You will be redirected securely to the official Zoom App Marketplace Authorization consent screen.
- 4Review & Grant Permissions: Review the requested scopes (
user:read,meeting:write, andmeeting:read) necessary for scheduling classes on your behalf, and click Allow. - 5Authorization Complete: Once authorized, Zoom redirects you back to Learnbird. An active status badge confirms your integration is connected and ready to host live classes.
How to Use the App
For Instructors & Academy Tutors
- Scheduling a Class: Go to Live Classes > Create Live Class. Select your target batch, schedule the date/time, and choose Zoom as the meeting provider.
- Automated Meeting Provisioning: Learnbird calls the Zoom API to generate unique meeting credentials, passcodes, and encrypted join tokens.
- Hosting the Session: Click Start Class from your instructor schedule. You can host directly via the embedded Zoom Web SDK or launch your desktop Zoom client as the host.
For Enrolled Students
- Accessing Classes: Log in to your academy student portal and view your batch schedule or live class calendar.
- One-Click Secure Entry: Click Join Live Class. The meeting opens securely in the browser window using the Zoom Web SDK with your verified student name.
- Interactive Learning: Participate actively using real-time audio, video, chat, reactions, and screen viewing capabilities.
De-authorization & Uninstallation Steps
If you wish to disconnect your Zoom account from Learnbird or remove the application from your Zoom account, follow these steps:
- 1Log in to your Zoom Account and navigate to the Zoom App Marketplace at https://marketplace.zoom.us/.
- 2Click Manage in the top right header, then select Added Apps (or search for Learnbird).
- 3Locate the Learnbird app and click Remove / Uninstall.
- 4Confirm the uninstallation prompt when asked by Zoom.
Automated De-authorization Webhook Handling
When an uninstallation occurs in Zoom Marketplace, Zoom dispatches an automated de-authorization event to Learnbird's endpoint (/api/zoom/deauthorize). Upon receipt, all stored Zoom OAuth tokens and credentials associated with your account are permanently and securely deleted from our databases.
Data Security & Compliance
We adhere strictly to Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 (PDPA) and Zoom Marketplace Security benchmarks:
- Token Encryption & Security:
OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Transient SDK meeting signatures expire automatically after 2 hours.
- Least-Privilege Permission Scopes:
Learnbird requests only the minimum required scopes (
meeting:write,meeting:read,user:read) strictly necessary to schedule live class sessions. - Privacy Policy Alignment:

Troubleshooting & Support
Issue: "Camera or Microphone Permission Denied"
Ensure your web browser has been granted permission to access your camera and microphone in the browser settings (chrome://settings/content).
Issue: "Zoom Authorization Expired or Failed"
If your Zoom credentials require re-authentication, navigate to Settings > Integrations, click Disconnect Zoom, and then re-click Connect Zoom Account.
Issue: "Signature Invalid or Meeting Expired"
Meeting join signatures are valid only for the scheduled class window. Refresh your browser or re-launch the meeting directly from your Learnbird schedule.
